Construction machinery
Mining and construction machinery usually works in mountains and deserts, far from ordinary living areas, sometimes as deep as 2,000 metres underground. The equipment covers a wide range, from ore crushing and cutting machines to screening, loading and conveying equipment, and most of it runs continuously, 24 hours a day. A failure in any one of these machines has a serious effect on production at the site, and because equipment has grown larger in recent years, maintenance work has become considerably harder.
Paper machinery
To improve productivity the paper industry has moved towards higher machine speeds and greater web widths. At the same time, bearings used in paper machines are expected to offer higher reliability so that unplanned stoppages can be avoided.
Machine tool spindle
A machine tool spindle is the shaft that drives the workpiece or the tool to rotate. A spindle assembly normally consists of the spindle, its bearings and transmission parts such as gears or pulleys. In a machine it mainly supports rotating parts such as gears and pulleys and transmits motion and torque, as in a machine tool spindle; in other cases it holds the workpiece, as in a mandrel. Apart from planers, broaching machines and other machine tools whose main motion is linear, most machine tools have a spindle assembly. The motion accuracy and structural stiffness of the spindle assembly are decisive factors in machining quality and cutting efficiency.
Fans and blowers
A fan is a driven fluid machine that raises gas pressure and conveys gas using mechanical energy supplied to it. In Chinese usage the term covers ventilating fans, blowers and wind turbines.
Water pumps
A water pump is a machine that conveys liquid or raises its pressure. It transfers the mechanical energy of a prime mover, or other external energy, to the liquid so that the energy of the liquid increases. It is mainly used to convey liquids including water, oil, acids and alkalis, emulsions, suspensions and liquid metals.
Electric motors
An electric motor is an electromagnetic device that converts or transmits electrical energy in accordance with the law of electromagnetic induction. Motor selection should be based on shaft power; the motor rating is chosen one step above the shaft power. For example, for a shaft power of 15 kW, a motor of 18.5 kW should be selected. The number of poles also depends on the required speed of the driven equipment.
