Cold mounting is suitable when the fit is not excessively tight. Apply even force through a sleeve or dedicated impact ring, and never transmit force through the rolling elements.

When mounting a non-separable bearing, apply the same pressure to the inner and outer rings. For separable bearings, install the rings independently and align them carefully to protect the raceways and rollers.

Self-aligning bearings require a mounting ring that prevents the outer ring from tilting. Dedicated mechanical or hydraulic tools provide safer, more repeatable installation.
